Casa de modă italiană Gucci a fost fondată în 1921 de Guccio Gucci. Acesta lucra într-un hotel din Londra când a fost inspirat de stilul clienților bogați ai hotelului, iar această inspirație la dus la dezvoltarea unei afaceri care, la aproape un secol de la înființare, se numără printre primele 100 de mărci globale.
Gucci a fost cunoscută pentru produsele sale de înaltă calitate din piele încă de la înființare, dar atunci când pielea a fost un produs greu de găsit în timpul celui de-al II-lea război mondial, gândirea inovatoare a lui Guccio Gucci a salvat marca în timp ce a extins linia mărcii la produse fabricate din diferite materiale cum ar fi cânepă, in și iută.
